REFEREES
PLEASE REMEMBER:
-
Follow the divisional guidelines for the
age group you are refereeing!
-
Two-Goal
Rule
In any game where one team
is unable to field the same number of players as the other team (except
by reason of receiving a red card), the team with the greater number of
players must reduce to the same number of players immediately upon scoring
a goal which causes them to have a two-goal lead. This same team
may replace their players at the next regular substitution (quarter) if
they no longer hold a two-goal lead. (FLAYSO Guidelines)
-
Four-Goal
Rule When a
team has a four goal advantage, the coach needs to further challenge the players
on the field. This can be done in a number of creative ways. Suggestions are:
change the field position of the dominant scoring player, have players score off
of a header or volley, shoot from outside ‘the 18’, make 3 passes before
shooting, shoot with the non-dominant foot, etc. Anything that promotes the
spirit of the game, challenges the players, and does not humiliate the opponent
or penalize the team with the advantage.
